Symptoms above the soil may not be seen. When infected, foliage symptoms may be stunting, yellowing, wilting, and other signs of a non functioning root system. Extensive galling, swelling, and distortion of the roots are the main symptoms of this disease. Galled and clubbed roots are often invaded by secondary rot organisms such as soft rot bacteria; this results in the fast decaying of roots, further decline of infected plants, and release of disease into the soil.
