Bonide Solutions:

The eggs hatch into larva, which feed on corn roots for about of three to four weeks during which time they pass through three growth stages. The larva in the third stage is about 1/2 inch in size and has a dark brown head. The adult then turns into adult beetles, which come out of the soil and start feeding on corn foliage, pollen, and silks around mid-July.
