Bees are adapted for feeding on nectar and pollen, the former primarily for sugar as an energy source, and the latter primarily for protein and other nutrients. Most pollen is used as food for larvae.
The natural enemies of garden insect pests should be protected and nurtured. Biological products are generally less hazardous to beneficials than synthetics. Treating gardens one section at a time rather than all at once can also help.
