Toadflax is a perennial with short, spreading roots. It has erect stems with fine, thread-like, blue green leaves. Its flowers look similar to those of snapdragons, are pale yellow and bloom from mid-summer to mid-autumn. It is usually the first plant to be found in areas that have been burned or disturbed by other means. It requires ample drainage and is commonly found on roadsides and in poor soils.
