Polygonum coccineum Common names include knotweed, knotgrass, bistort, tear-thumb, mile-a-minute, and several others. An aquatic or bog plant. Prefers wet soils but can grow anywhere. Is a summer annual weed. Leaves are opposite in seedling stage, then grow from each segment alternateting from the main stem up to 3 ft tall. Prostrate varieties none as Knotweed also prolific. Very fast and invasive.
