A herbaceous perennial related to the buckwheat family. Rumex acetosella L. is considered an invasive specie in many states Wa., AZ., CT, HI., NY., TN., VA., OR., WY., WV. Prefers acidic soils but will grow anywhere. Grows to a height of 4 to 12 inches. stems are reddish in color and base foliage is lobed. Spreads by seed and rhizome. Seeds can remain viable from 10 to 20 years. Flowers from May to Oct.
