Brassbuttons weed is a low-growing annual that grows in turf, gardens, agricultural lands and other disturbed areas, especially along the coast. Extremely small and weak in appearance, rarely growing over 3-4 inches tall, the slender, branching weed is identified by tiny, aromatic leaves cut into tapering parts. Flowers grow on stems that extend slightly above the leaves. Button-like flower heads open to yellow-green flowers the size of a pencil eraser. Brassbuttons usually grows in clumps and may be so thick that they are interspersed through the lawn.
