A tufted perennial grass. This is a mat forming coarse textured grass grows in a clump. Its short rhizomes enable the grass to increase its diameter. As the diameter increases the center may die out. The blades are usually ¼ - ½”, wide and unmowed can grow up to 10” long. The flower stem grows upright up to 65” tall and have 2-10 flower heads on them. Dallis grass becomes a problem as many clumps grow in the lawn causing mats or patches of wide blade grass spots.
