Black Vine Weevils


This pest has been found on more than 100 different species/types of plants. The larva stage of this insect is white, Adults are dull gray to black, and do not fly. Larva stage feeding on the roots is highly damaging to plants. Feeding by larvae occurs from mid-summer to fall and in early spring. At first larvae feed on small new roots, but in early spring, they move to the bark of large roots or the stem, sometimes completely girdling them.
