Aster Leafhoppers

Adults are about 0.125 inch long, with transparent wings that are veined, and body back colors of gray and black. The nymphs have small wings and range in color from yellow to dark green. Nymphs and adults may be found all year round. The leaf-hopper place their eggs into tender/soft plant tissues. Wingless nymphs hatch from the eggs and go through four to five stages before reaching adult. May be up to six generations between spring and fall. Injury to plants with leaf-hoppers include stippling, yellowing, and drying of plant leaves.
